Citizenship Information
- By Descent
Individuals born outside Kiribati with at least one I-Kiribati parent may claim citizenship. Required documentation must be provided.
- By Adoption
Adopted children become citizens on adoption day if at least one adoptive parent is a citizen.
- By Marriage
Women who married a Kiribati citizen before Independence Day can apply for citizenship through registration.
- Naturalization
Foreign nationals who have been ordinarily resident for 10+ years and hold permanent resident status are eligible to apply.
